Confessions of a Disney Trivia Finalist
Every fall, a special trivia competition is held for Walt Disney World cast members. The Disney Heritage Celebration Trivia Challenge is sponsored by the Centers of Excellence and after two initial rounds, the top ten scorers are all invited to participate in the Final Round which is held before a live audience. StartedByAMouse.com columnist Bill Griffiths was among them. This essay gives an inside glimpse into the festivities and includes some questions used to determine the winner.
From 1989 through 1999, 50 Disney Store cast members would button up their sweaters and appear onstage at Disneyland, before an audience of co-workers, family, friends and even guests, and amaze them all with their knowledge of all things Disney. These Triviateers, aka the Disney Store National Trivia Finalists, share their memories, thoughts and feelings of participating in this very special event.
And to understand the process of becoming a Triviateer, be sure to read Matthew Walker's One Triviateer's Story.
Steve Burns shares his experiences as a Triviateer in this trip report from the 1993 competition. Not only will you feel like a part of the action at The Disney Store National Trivia Competition but you will re-live a Disneyland before Indiana Jones, a new Tomorrowland or even the Partners statue that currently resides in the Hub.
