We Were Started By A Mouse Too! by Kathy and Matthew Walker


We're going to Disney World ... What Disney wedding would be complete without a Disney honeymoon? So after exchanging rings the day before, Kathy and Matthew boarded a plane for Orlando for a week-long honeymoon at the Walt Disney World Resort. This had been a trip that was planned for as long as Kathy and Matthew had talked about marriage. Though Kathy had been to Walt Disney World on two previous occasions, it was Matthew's first time and he couldn't wait. Kathy and Matthew stayed at Disney's Old Key West Resort, part of the Disney Vacation Club. The accomodations were a wedding present by a family friend, Grandma Peggy. Upon checking in, the staff couldn't believe that we had just eatten breakfast at Disneyland and now were at Walt Disney World for dinner. After we got settled in our place, we hopped a bus for Downtown Disney and had our first WDW meal at McDonalds. Sad but true, yet very tasty. The first theme park that we decided on visiting our first full day there was EPCOT. Matthew had wanted to make the American Adventure his first attraction but World Showcase didn't open as early as Future World. After just marrying his dream girl and now being at a place he had always dreamed about visiting, Matthew's emotions took over and tears flowed down his face as he first caught a glimpse of Spaceship Earth's superstructure from just outside the main entrance. Kathy gave him a big hug and was happy to be a part of this experience. The week was so much fun and went by entirely too quick. Kathy and Matthew decided that the one of the best parts of WDW were the topping bars located throughout most of the eateries - a definite plus over Disneyland's. Another highlight was Kathy's feeding cereal to a Mama duck and her babies just outside the townhouse's back door. But no matter what highlights or lowlights we encountered on our honeymoon, knowing that we encountered them together is the best thing of all.
