Toontown Photo Tour

A peek into Mickey's den. Although the main mouse isn't home right now, he left his television on, probably so the goldfish in the bowl on the table would have something to watch. And at this moment, he is watching Cindy Williams from one of the Disney Sunday Movies that were on around that time.

On Mickey's refrigerator in his kitchen are drawings by his nephews, Morty and Ferdie. You don't see many mentions of the comic book characters in the parks, so I found this unusual. Other than that, just an ordinary kitchen you would find in any mouse's house.

Two different views of Mickey's office. The first is of his desk, with the picture of Walt on the wall. The second is of the bookshelves holding some of the honors he has received as well as some of the mementos he has collected.

Here is Mickey's car parked outside of his house, complete with his Florida "MIK N MIN" license plate. I just love those balloon tires.

Out back from Mickey's house is his garden. How many cartoon mice do you know with a green thumb? Those mouse-shaped tomatoes look tasty! That is the back of Mickey's house on the right, and his garage on the left.

Also out behind Mickey's house is Pluto's house, just like you see it in the cartoons. I hope Butch doesn't come by and steal the bone Pluto left lying there.

Here are two views of Mickey's house as it appeared in Mickey's Birthdayland and Mickey's Starland. Note the straight lines on the architecture, except for those huge bulging front columns. Also, to the right in the second picture, you can see one of those "tents" used to house Mickey's birthday party show during the Birthdayland days, and then a Disney Afternoon show during the Starland days. I believe that particular tent was the waiting area for the show.

Here is Mickey's house as it appears now in Mickey's Toontown Fair. Two different pictures here - one with Christmas decorations, and one without. You can tell from these pictures and the ones above that the exterior underwent almost a complete change. Now there are almost no straight lines or right angles. However, the interior was still much the same as before. Also, you can see that the tents underwent some major changes as well. Even the exterior pole mounted lighting fixtures are different.

When the change was made to Mickey's Toontown Fair, some new features were added, including Minnie's house, which is an exact replica of her Toontown house at Disneyland, and Goofy's Barnstormer roller coaster at Wiseacre Farms, pictured above. This small roller coaster may not have quite the same thrills as Space Mountain, but it is still a fun ride, especially for the smaller ones. The roller coaster is themed to an airplane ride, and there is always something fun about being in an airplane crashing through a chicken house, hearing the chickens scream around you.

For further reading on Mickey's Birthdayland, I would recommend a StartedByAMouse.com article about Walt Disney World Celebrations, which also featured some of these same pictures.
