With only a couple weeks left until the opening of the Disneyland Resort's "second gate," Disney's California Adventure, the surrounding area is beginning to reveal its secrets and beauty after years of construction.

Between the two parks leading towards the hotel complexes is a shopping, eating and entertainment district called Downtown Disney. Modeled after its counterpart at Walt Disney World, Downtown Disney provides guests a pleasant diversion from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks during the day, while kicking it up a notch with clubs, dancing and concerts in the evening. Some of Downtown Disney's tenants include ESPN Zone, Rainforest Cafe, House of Blues and the largest Disney shopping experience in California - World of Disney.

Nestled in the middle of Downtown Disney is Anaheim's newest hotel - the Grand Californian. This luxury resort is the first hotel to be located within a Disney theme park and the first Disney-designed hotel in Anaheim. The hotel's beauty, location and amenities will make this the destination of choice for many visitors to the new resort.

And finally, the theme park. Disney's California Adventure is currently undergoing previews before its official opening February 8. From vantage points throughout the Grand Californian Hotel, one can see guests enjoying the sights, sounds and experiences of the new park. It looks like a lot of fun and should have many, many visitors for quite some time to come.
