Just a couple of pictures showing the general atmosphere and architecture of Main Street. The street can be quite busy in the morning, with everyone making their way to the other lands, but at other times during the day, a stroll down Main Street can be quite relaxing.
A couple of pictures of Main Street at night. I just about always try to take a night picture; sometimes they turn out, sometimes they don't. The top picture was taken in 1987, after the Main Street Electrical Parade as everyone was leaving. The bottom picture was taken in 1988, waiting for the Main Street Electrical Parade to begin. To me, Main Street has a completely different atmosphere at night, and I love the lighting along the edge of the buildings.
And speaking of Main Street at night, here's a picture of that all-time favorite, the Main Street Electrical Parade. This picture was also taken in 1987. Apparently, at the same time I took this picture, someone across the way took a flash picture, creating that bright light in front of the train.
The Crystal Palace restaurant sits between Main Street and Adventureland near the Hub. Although the architecture is definitely Victorian to match the rest of Main Street, it really doesn't look that out of place when you encounter it coming out of Adventureland.
At the Hub, which is the gateway to the rest of the park, the Partners statue depicts Walt and Mickey looking back down Main Street. This statue was added in late 1994 or early 1995. The original version was placed in Disneyland in late 1993. A fitting tribute to the man behind the magic. - Story and Photos by Steve Burns E-mail Steve at steve@startedbyamouse.com, discuss this article in the StartedByAMouse.com Discussion Boards or use the Talkback feature below.
