Liberty Square Photo Tour

Here is a picture showing some of the general Liberty Square architecture, which looks like what you would expect to find in a typical colonial town. These buildings are the home of the Heritage House shop. Just to the left is the entrance to the Hall of Presidents (you can see the flags that are on the front of the building).

The Hall of Presidents, the signature attraction in Liberty Square. On opening day in 1971, all of the presidents from Washington to Nixon were present. Each additional president was added sometime after he took office. The date of 1787 refers to the year the Constitution was signed, since the focus of the original show was the Constitution and the American Presidency.

Some of the presidents on the stage. This picture was taken during the summer of 2001, while they were still working on the George W. Bush figure. At the right of the picture, you can see the empty space to the left of Nixon where Clinton stood before he was moved to the back row. That space is where George W. Bush now stands to deliver his message.

One of the most popular attractions in the Magic Kingdom is the Haunted Mansion. While the Disneyland version is located in New Orleans Square, the mansion here is in Liberty Square. Also, Tokyo Disneyland's Haunted Mansion is in Fantasyland, and Disneyland Paris's Phantom Manor is in Frontierland. So the Haunted Mansion (or its equivalent) is located in a different land in each of the Disney parks.

For the Liberty Square version, they chose the design of a riverside New England mansion for the exterior. This picture was taken early one December morning before the crowds started arriving. To the left is the Keelboat landing. That landing has since been converted to the Fastpass distribution area for the Haunted Mansion, and the Keelboats are no longer in service.

Disneyland's Haunted Mansion has long had a pet cemetery, so during one of the renovations a few years ago, the Magic Kingdom's mansion got its own resting place for deceased pets. It is located near the exit of the attraction, and much like the regular cemetery at the entrance, these grave markers contain some interesting epitaphs.

One last view of the Haunted Mansion from across the river. Look at all those people waiting to get in! Must have been back before Fastpass. And if you think I have a lot of pictures of the Haunted Mansion (I have a lot more that I didn't use), just wait until you see all the pictures I have of Cinderella Castle. In fact, I'll just make that my next topic for a photo tour, so watch for it in the next few weeks!
