Sleeping Beauty Castle has undergone a major paint job in preparation of the 50th anniversary celebration. Its turrets are painted in three different shades of pink, the stonework is highlighted with golden crenulations and trim, and the roof now shimmers in tones of blue and green. The specialty paints, created by Walt Disney Imagineering, contain copper and prismatic glitter to create a shiny brilliance under the California sun.
In addition to the paint, the castle has been guilded in parts and has seen the addition of jewels applied to her.
These projectors around the castle's moat are believed to be in place to illuminate the castle at night and perhaps to provide special effects during the nightly fireworks show, “Remember . . . Dreams Come True."
On each side of the castle, these giant pilars were erected. It was thought that they would play a role in the castle's unveiling during the anniversary kick-off but they were no longer in place the following weekend. The castle's five most prominent spires will each be adorned with elegant, golden bejeweled tiaras when the celebration begins.
Perhaps the towers were temporarily removed to allow for filming to take place in the hub.
Crews were set up throughout the weekend making an interesting backdrop for the guests who continued to take their pictures in front of the Partners statue.
Judging by these signs, the location set-up was being used by a live morning TV show in Australia.
