As I'm posting this latest Land View, Disneyland is hours away from kicking off an 18-month worldwide party to celebrate its 50th anniversary. For the past year or so, Disneyland has been under heavy refurbishment -- gallons and gallons of paint, lots of TLC, opening new attractions and updating older ones. The result is a sparkling new theme park that is turning 50 years young.

Entitled "The Happiest Homecoming on Earth," Disneyland's celebration features an all-new fireworks spectacular, Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams, a bejeweled Sleeping Beauty Castle, the opening of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, the re-opening of Space Mountain with new show effects, a look at Disneyland's first 50 magical years with a film starring Steve Martin and Donald Duck, hundreds of thousands of guest pictures making up gigantic collages and attraction vehicles that have been touched up with a golden sheen.
