Shortly after entering the show building, Buzz Lightyear gives a mission briefing on what riders will be expected to do once aboard their space vehicle. The Etch-A-Sketch on the wall draws images that correspond to Buzz's speech.
Buzz is a fairly impressive Audio-Animatronic figure with very fluid motion. His face is projected from inside the character's head giving him a full range of expressions. The gun he is holding in his left hand is similar to the one guests will use on the ride.
The Etch-A-Sketch is basically a television monitor. The graphics look like they could be done on the toy and it even makes noises like you would hear if playing with a real Etch-A-Sketch.
Another mural featuring the green spacemen inside the queue. Here, they are loading up the space vehicle with the special power source that Zurg is so eager to obtain - batteries.
A picture showing the targets guests will be shooting at inside the game. Each target is worth a pre-determined point value, circles being worth the least and triangles worth the most.
The XP-40 space vehicle guests board to enjoy the ride. Using an Omnimover ride system, these vehicles remain in constant ride rotation with guests boarding via a moving platform.
A look at the "dashboard" of the XP-40 vehicles. There are two guns, which are removable from their holsters; two scoreboards, to tell each of the two riders what their current point totals are; and a joystick in the middle that allows for the vehicle to spin 360 degrees.
The guns light up to indicate if you've hit a target. You can also follow your shot by looking for the point of the red laser that the gun emits, using it to assure yourself that you are actually aiming at the various targets.
