Disneyland welcomed its 500 millionth guest at 10:16 a.m. on January 8. The sign on the train station has changed to reflect the new milestone.

Mickey Mouse and Disneyland Ambassador Becky Murphy greet the 500 millionth guest, Bill Trow of Wentworth Falls, N.S.W., Australia, his daughter Aspen and wife Ann-Marie. He was presented with a giant key proclaiming the milestone, along with many gifts, including a lifetime pass to the Disneyland Resort.
Most of the park's celebration of Mickey Mouse's 75th birthday centers around the merchandise that it can sell to honor the milestone. Above the showline at the Disneyland Showcase is a figure of Mickey Mouse in his "Steamboat Willie" role. The store sells a number of Mickey Mouse-themed merchandise, including T-shirts, bags, slippers and other souvenirs.
