As part of the 2004 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, the Disneyland Resort entered the tallest float in Rose Parade history with "A Sudden Drop in Pitch." The float was designed to announce the upcoming debut of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which is set to open at Disney's California Adventure May 4. At 100 feet tall, the float features the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror hotel in the midst of Disney's California Adventure landmarks, including the Sun Wheel, California Screamin' and the Golden Gate Bridge. As with all Rose Parade floats, "A Sudden Drop in Pitch" was completely covered with flowers and other organic materials that give the float its color and texture. Immediately following the 115th Tournament of Roses Parade, the float was transported from Pasadena to Anaheim using only surface streets, which took an estimated 8 to 10 hours. After arriving at the Disneyland Resort, the float was set up near the banks of Paradise Bay at Disney's California Adventure so that guests can get a unique, close-up view. It will be on display through January 19. Please enjoy our latest Land View with more than 40 pictures of the float. Photos are from Disney's California Adventure from January 4, 2004.
