Land View - Pirates of the Caribbean Premiere

June 28, 2003 was an exceptional day at the Disneyland Resort. With the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl being held in New Orleans Square, half of Disneyland park would be rendered inaccessible.

In a special one-day "The Guide to the Magic" map, the west side of the park is circled with a yellow dotted line with an admonishment to "Visit these Lands early in the day!"

Another page offers "Tips To Make Your Day More Magical." Among the tips, guests are told that they will have the opportunity to view celebrity red carpet arrivals on Main Street USA; gives the times of expected closures of attractions in Critter Country, Frontierland, New Orleans Square and portions of Adventureland; mentions that other lands and some attractions will be available beyond the 6 p.m. closing time; and indicates that Disney's California Adventure would be open a couple of hours later than usual with increased entertainment offerings.

Among the unscheduled entertainment offerings at DCA was a soft-opening of the XGames Xperience, which officially opened July 1. Not everything was operational but guests could view the show at the Paradise Bay Amphitheater and play games at the XCade.
