Happiest Faces on Earth - Disneyland's 50th Anniversary Celebration


©Disney On July 17, 2004, Disneyland Resort President Matt Ouimet joined more than 1,000 Disneyland Cast Members, plus their friends and families, in formally launching "The Happiest Faces on Earth ... A Disney Family Album." Guests were invited to submit Disney vacation photos through the end of January 2005, which would then be incorporated into giant photo collages placed throughout Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure during the company's 18-month 50th anniversary celebration. Guests are now being notified via email that their photos have been used in these murals and told the approximate location of where those photos may be found in each. A more detailed list can be printed from one of three computer kiosks -- two to the right of the enormous Steamboat Willie mural in Town Square and one outside the Information Booth in Disney's California Adventure -- by entering the name or email address of the person who submitted to the program. The murals range from poster size to the size of entire buildings. Some can be seen at eye level while others are elevated high above. Some photos have been cropped to get the desired effect while others have been tinted with color overlays. The most ambitious is a collage within a collage, Steamboat Willie, whose image is made up of hundreds of images of Disneyland cast members, whose portraits are themselves comprised of hundreds of small guest pictures. We have created a list of the various "Happiest Faces" murals with a map of their locations on the next page that you can print up and bring it with you on your next visit. For those of you who aren't able to make it to Disneyland in the next 18 months -- or for those who want some extra help finding exactly where the collages can be found -- clicking on each number of the map, or on the list below, will open a new page featuring a photograph of that particular display.
