Entering a Disney theme park is like walking through the movie screen and turning the 2-D images you see into a 3-D world you can experience. Walt Disney alikened the experience to Alice stepping through the Looking Glass. "To step through the portals of Disneyland will be like entering another world," he said. With the transformation of the Bountiful Valley Farm from a realistic re-creation of an actual California farm to a more fanciful interpretation of the theme, several figures, representing the characters of a bug's life, took up residence in the fields outside of Flik's Fun Fair. At the grand opening of a bug's land, Pixar vice president John Lasseter talked about the sculptures. "The sculptures of the models of the characters out in front are so spectacular to me because they are so on model. What is interesting is that often times when you design a character, you know it through and through. And then you see toys or all the things afterwards, where it doesn't quite look like them. These are exactly the characters from the films. It is probably the best renditions of our characters I have ever seen." This edition of Disney Details takes a look at these fantastic sculptures in their home at Disney's California Adventure.
